Saudi rally icon Yazeed Al Rajhi and his German co-driver Timo Gottschalk were involved in a serious crash during the final stage of the Baja Jordan 2025, cutting short their run toward what could have been Al Rajhi’s first-ever victory in Jordan.
What Happened?
While leading the rally in the final leg, Al Rajhi’s Toyota Hilux struck a heavy obstacle at high speed. The impact caused both the driver and co-driver to suffer spinal injuries, forcing them to withdraw from the race.
According to reports:
Al Rajhi sustained two spinal fractures
Gottschalk suffered four vertebral fractures
They were immediately airlifted for medical evaluation and remain conscious and in stable condition. Al Rajhi is now expected to return to Riyadh for further medical treatment.
Yazeed Al Rajhi is not only one of Saudi Arabia’s top rally drivers but a symbol of national pride in motorsport. His consistency and performances have made him a standout in the global cross-country rally scene. His injury is a significant blow to the Saudi motorsport community and the FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Bajas season.
Despite the accident, Al Rajhi’s team and fans remain hopeful for his full recovery and eventual return to the sport.
