RIYADH — In a significant development, Al Shabab has announced that FIFA has officially lifted the transfer ban previously imposed on the club, enabling the Riyadh-based team to register new players in the current summer transfer window. This decision comes as part of FIFA’s efforts to address club compliance, with an estimated 65% of clubs around the world facing similar sanctions at some point.
Club spokesperson Turki Al-Ghamdi confirmed in a statement on X that the ban was lifted after the case that initiated the sanction was formally resolved. “We are committed to safeguarding the club’s rights and fulfilling our obligations to ensure our team remains competitive,” he stated.
The origin of the dispute relates to a solidarity contribution tied to former player Aaron Salem, which was described by the club as a “small amount.” According to Al Shabab, this financial issue should not have significantly impeded player registration, as it only represented approximately 0.5% of the club’s overall budget.
Despite the fact that the payment was processed nearly two months ago, Al Shabab attributed the delay in receiving formal clearance to banking issues and timing complications regarding FIFA’s Clearing House system, which was established to streamline transactions.
Al-Ghamdi reassured fans that the matter has now been fully resolved, allowing for the smooth registration of new players. “Supporters can rest easy; there are no concerns moving forward,” he emphasized.
In further announcements, Al Shabab addressed swirling rumors about the potential sale of Belgian winger Yannick Carrasco back to Atlético Madrid. The club strongly refuted these claims, asserting that Carrasco remains an integral part of the squad and reaffirming its commitment to stability and success. The club has urged fans and media alike to rely on official communications rather than speculation.
