RIYADH — Cristiano Ronaldo is poised to reach another remarkable milestone as he enters the 2025–26 Saudi Pro League season.
The 40-year-old captain of Al Nassr has already found the back of the net 74 times in just 77 RSL appearances since his arrival in Riyadh in late 2022. This extraordinary scoring record highlights his enduring prowess at the highest level of football.
Fresh off signing a new contract that will keep him at Al Nassr until 2027, Ronaldo is now aiming for a third consecutive golden boot. Achieving this would crown him alongside an elite group of players, including Nasser Al Shamrani, Omar Al Somah, and Abderrazak Hamdallah, all of whom have clinched the league’s top scorer award three times.
Remarkably, Al Shamrani remains the only player to have won the award four times, while Al Somah is recognized for achieving it in three consecutive seasons.
Ronaldo’s scoring instincts appear undimmed; he netted 35 goals in the 2023–24 season, setting a new single-season record in the process. His form during the pre-season, which included six goals in three matches — notably a hat-trick against Rio Ave — reinforces his unquenchable thirst for success.
He carried this momentum into the Saudi Super Cup, achieving his 100th goal for Al Nassr in the final against Al Ahli, although the team ultimately lost in penalties.
The club’s roster has been notably reshaped around Ronaldo, with high-profile arrivals including João Félix, Kingsley Coman, and Iñigo Martínez, adding both offensive firepower and defensive strength.
Ronaldo’s burgeoning partnership with Félix has already shown promise, indicating that they could develop into one of the league’s most formidable attacking duos.
Apart from collective ambitions, Ronaldo’s personal record is equally significant. He has accumulated 939 career goals, placing him tantalizingly close to the coveted 1,000-goal milestone. If his past endeavors are any indication, he will be unyielding in his pursuit of this landmark.
For Al Nassr, the objective is clear: to reclaim the SPL crown and secure continental accolades. For Ronaldo, the challenge remains the same — to continue rewriting football history, one goal at a time.
