RIYADH — In a significant move for the Saudi Pro League champions, Al Hilal has officially announced the renewal of Serbian midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s contract for an additional two years, ensuring that he remains with the club until the summer of 2028.
The announcement, made on X, quickly gained traction among fans and followers, with the message: “The story continues with the Sergeant.” This comes as Al Hilal looks to maintain its competitive edge in both domestic and international competitions.
Milinkovic-Savic, who turned 30 this year, joined Al Hilal in the summer of 2023 from Lazio for a transfer fee of €40 million. Initially signed to a three-year deal, the recent extension reflects the club’s confidence in his abilities as they prepare for future challenges.
Since making his debut, the Serbian international has established himself as a cornerstone of the team, netting an impressive 31 goals and providing 27 assists in 105 appearances across all competitions. His contributions have played a pivotal role in Al Hilal’s success, helping the club secure four major trophies: the Saudi Pro League, King’s Cup, and two Saudi Super Cup titles.
In a heartfelt video shared by the club, Milinkovic-Savic expressed his commitment to Al Hilal, stating: “From the first day I arrived at Al Hilal, I felt something different — the fans, the club, the spirit. Every step here means something; every victory has a special taste. What connects me to this club is more than a contract — it’s from the heart. My decision was simple: I’m staying because glory never leaves.”
