JEDDAH — The Saudi Arabia national football team won the 27th Gulf Cup title following a 2–0 victory over the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah.
The host nation took the lead in the 11th minute when winger Hammam Al-Hammami scored from the edge of the penalty area via a deflection. Forward Feras Al-Brikan doubled the advantage two minutes later in the 13th minute with a close-range finish. The UAE was awarded a penalty in the 38th minute, which was overturned following a VAR review before halftime. In the second half, Saudi goalkeeper Mohamed Al-Owais stopped an attempt from Sultan Adil, and UAE forward Fabio Lima struck the crossbar in the 88th minute.
The victory, managed under head coach Georgios Donis, marks Saudi Arabia’s fourth overall Gulf Cup championship and its first title in the competition since 2004, concluding the entire tournament without conceding a single goal. Al-Hammami was officially named Player of the Tournament following the match.
