GOA — The Al Nassr football squad made a grand entrance in Goa on Monday evening, receiving a vibrant welcome from a passionate group of local fans ahead of their highly-anticipated AFC Champions League Two group stage match against FC Goa, scheduled to take place at Fatorda Stadium.

Despite the rainy weather, dozens of supporters turned out at the airport, reflecting the increasing popularity of the Riyadh club in India. Recent statistics indicate that Al Nassr’s social media following in India has skyrocketed by over 45% in the past year, underscoring their expanding fanbase in the region.

Expectations are high for Wednesday’s match, which will be a historic moment as it marks Al Nassr’s first-ever competitive fixture in India. According to local authorities, up to 20,000 fans are anticipated to fill the stadium, eager to witness their heroes in action.

Interestingly, team captain Cristiano Ronaldo did not travel with the squad, as he opted out of participating in the group stage of this continental campaign. Additionally, Croatian midfielder Marcelo Brozović is sidelined due to a groin strain sustained during the weekend’s Saudi Pro League victory over Al Fateh.

Head coach Jorge Jesus has, however, enlisted all other foreign players, including Brazilian goalkeeper Bento and midfielder Wesley, both of whom were rested during the domestic fixture. This strategic inclusion is aimed at bolstering the team’s performance as they gear up for the away tie.

After securing a resounding victory in their group opener against FC Istiklol, Al Nassr currently leads their group and is eager to maintain their perfect start in the tournament while balancing their domestic and continental ambitions.
