Mohamed Salah Arrives in Istanbul Ahead of Free Transfer to Trabzonspor

ISTANBUL, Turkey — Former Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah arrived at Istanbul Atatürk Airport on Wednesday ahead of finalizing a move to Turkish Süper Lig club Trabzonspor.

The 34-year-old Egyptian international was greeted by hundreds of chanting supporters upon landing on a private jet, wearing the club’s signature blue and burgundy jersey. Trabzonspor officially confirmed to the Istanbul stock market that negotiations had commenced for the forward, prompting a 6.5 percent surge in the club’s share price.

Salah enters the Süper Lig as a free agent following his departure from Liverpool, where he recorded 257 goals in 442 appearances while winning two Premier League titles and a UEFA Champions League trophy. An official signing ceremony is set to take place in the Black Sea city of Trabzon following the completion of medical examinations.
