JEDDAH —
In a critical clash during Matchweek 6 of the Roshn Saudi League, Al Hilal secured a vital 2-0 victory over Al Ittihad on Friday, deepening the latter’s ongoing struggles.

Mamadou Doumbia inadvertently scored an own goal in the 41st minute, giving Al Hilal an early lead. Marcos Leonardo later added a second goal in the 57th minute, capitalizing on a rebound from goalkeeper Hamad Al Shinqiti. This win not only showcased Al Hilal’s prowess but also marked a noticeable shift in their fortunes.

The victory propelled Al Hilal into third place with 14 points, just one point shy of second-placed Al Taawoun and four points behind league leaders Al Nassr. Conversely, Al Ittihad remains stagnant in seventh position with 10 points, now extending their winless streak to three matches. Notably, the reigning champions have recorded just one win in their last five outings, raising concerns about their title defense as they face increasing pressure ahead of crucial upcoming fixtures.

Statistics reveal a troubling trend for Al Ittihad: they have only managed to secure 10 points out of 18 available in the league this season, a stark contrast to their performance in the previous year.
