Edoardo Mortara Claims Back-to-Back Poles in Jeddah; Race 2 Grid Finalized

JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia — Mahindra Racing’s Edoardo Mortara secured his second consecutive pole position at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit on Saturday, February 14, setting the stage for the final round of the 2026 Jeddah E-Prix double-header.

Following a second-place finish in Friday’s opening race, Mortara clocked a blistering 1:15.116 in the final Duel of qualifying to narrowly defeat Andretti’s Jake Dennis by a margin of 0.037 seconds. According to official FIA timing data, this marks Mahindra’s first back-to-back pole performance since 2024, confirming the team’s resurgence on the high-speed Saudi street circuit.

Behind the front row, Jaguar TCS Racing’s António Félix da Costa qualified third, showing improved pace after finishing fifth on Friday. He is joined on the second row by Nissan’s Oliver Rowland, who recovered from a group-stage exit in Race 1 to qualify fourth. Championship leader Pascal Wehrlein, who celebrated his 100th E-Prix with a victory yesterday, will start from seventh on the grid after being eliminated in the quarter-final Duels.

The Saturday night race will once again feature the mandatory “Pit Boost” fast-charging stops and “Attack Mode” activations that proved decisive in Friday’s results. With ambient temperatures remaining stable at 24°C, battery thermal management is expected to be a primary factor for the 32-lap contest.

The green flag for Race 2 is scheduled for 20:05 local time. Wehrlein currently holds the title lead with 64 points, but the condensed qualifying results suggest a highly contested battle for the podium under the Jeddah floodlights.
