Head Coach Georgios Donis Confirms Saudi Arabia’s 26-Player Squad for 2026 FIFA World Cup

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — Head coach Georgios Donis has finalized Saudi Arabia’s official 26-player roster for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, as confirmed by official channels of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF).

The announcement locks in the tournament selection for the Green Falcons, marking the country’s seventh overall appearance at the global finals. Donis, who was appointed to the managerial position on April 23, 2026, following the dismissal of Hervé Renard, finalized the definitive list following a preliminary 30-man training camp.

The squad features a heavily domestic core, with 25 players currently competing in the Roshn Saudi League. Left winger and team captain Salem Al-Dawsari, 34, headlines the roster as the most experienced player with 108 international caps, entering his third career FIFA World Cup tournament. Other prominent domestic inclusions are Al-Ahli forward Firas Al-Buraikan, Al-Hilal midfielder Mohamed Kanno, and Al-Qadsiah midfielder Musab Al-Juwayr.

Only one selected player operates outside the Saudi top flight: right-back Saud Abdulhamid, who plays for Italian Serie A club AS Roma. Meanwhile, experienced goalkeeper Mohamed Al-Owais remains part of the selection as a member of the Al-Hilal squad in the domestic first tier.

Saudi Arabia has been drawn into Group H for the tournament. The team will open its campaign against Uruguay on June 15 at Miami Stadium, followed by a fixture against Spain on June 21 at Atlanta Stadium, and conclude the group stage against Cape Verde on June 26 at Houston Stadium.
