Countdown Initiated for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 in Brazil

ZURICH, Switzerland — The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has officially initiated the one-year countdown for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027™, scheduled to take place in Brazil from June 24 to July 25, 2027. The tournament represents the 10th edition of the global competition and marks the first time the event will be hosted on the South American continent.

The tournament will feature national selections from six continental confederations, continuing the 32-team format established during the 2023 edition in Australia and New Zealand. Matches will be distributed across multiple designated host venues throughout Brazil, utilizing the infrastructure previously established and upgraded for the men’s FIFA World Cup in 2014.

FIFA officials emphasized that the choice of Brazil as the host country aims to accelerate the growth and commercial trajectory of the women’s game across South America. The operational and broadcast schedules are currently being finalized by the Local Organizing Committee to accommodate global broadcasting metrics and spectator logistics.

The tournament’s opening fixture is scheduled for June 24, 2027, with the final match set to take place one month later at the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
