REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — The landmark acquisition of video game publisher Electronic Arts Inc. (EA) has been officially completed, valuing the company at $55 billion (£41 billion) and concluding its 36-year history as a publicly traded company on NASDAQ.
The all-cash leveraged buyout was finalized following final regulatory approvals by an international consortium led by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), alongside private equity firms Silver Lake and Affinity Partners. Under the terms of the agreement, EA stockholders will receive $210 per share in cash.
The acquisition transitions major global video game franchises—including EA SPORTS FC, Madden NFL, The Sims, and Apex Legends—under private ownership. Operating within Saudi Arabia’s National Gaming and Esports Strategy under Vision 2030, the transaction expands the Kingdom’s direct presence in the global gaming industry. EA will maintain its global headquarters in Redwood City, California, with Andrew Wilson continuing as Chief Executive Officer.
