Inigo Martinez Joins Al Nassr in Blockbuster Move

In a major boost for the Roshn Saudi League, Al Nassr has officially announced the signing of Spanish defender Inigo Martinez. The former Barcelona star joins the Riyadh-based club on a free transfer after mutually terminating his contract with the La Liga champions.

Martinez, 34, signed a one-year contract with Al Nassr, with the club having the option to extend the deal. His arrival comes after a successful two-season stint with Barcelona, where he played a pivotal role in the team’s domestic treble last season, securing La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup.

The experienced center-back, who has earned 21 caps for the Spanish national team, is expected to provide a significant boost to Al Nassr’s defense as they aim to improve upon their third-place finish from the previous season.

Martinez is one of several high-profile additions for Al Nassr this summer, joining Portuguese star Joao Felix. The club also appointed former Al Hilal manager Jorge Jesus, signaling their intent to compete for the league title and other honors in the new campaign.

The transfer is also beneficial for Barcelona, as Martinez’s departure frees up approximately €14 million in salary space, helping the club with its financial fair play regulations.
