Saudi Arabia progresses to Arab Cup quarterfinals after defeating Comoros 3-1.

DOHA — In a thrilling showdown at the Arab Cup, Saudi Arabia secured their spot in the quarterfinals with a decisive 3-1 victory over Comoros on Friday during their Group B Matchweek 2 encounter.

The win propelled the Green Falcons to the top of Group B with six points, two ahead of Morocco, who occupy the second position. The two teams are set to clash in a highly anticipated final round of the group stage.

Comoros, on the other hand, is struggling at the bottom of the group with zero points, while Oman sits in third place with just one point.

The match attracted a significant turnout, with an estimated 25,000 Saudi fans creating a vibrant atmosphere, as they cheered on their team from the stands.

Saudi Arabia’s Mohammed Kanno opened the scoring in the 49th minute of first-half stoppage time, followed by a second goal just six minutes after the restart. Comoros attempted to regain momentum when Erriheim Youssouf netted in the 63rd minute. However, Salem Al Dawsari restored Saudi Arabia’s two-goal lead with an impressive solo effort in the 76th minute, showcasing his skill by carrying the ball from midfield through heavy defensive pressure.

As they look ahead, Saudi Arabia aims to cap off the group stage with a flawless record when they face Morocco in their next match, which promises to be a crucial encounter for both teams.
