RIYADH — In a thrilling match at Kingdom Arena on Saturday night, Darwin Nunez quickly made his mark in the Saudi Pro League, scoring his inaugural goal for Al Hilal in a dramatic 2-2 draw against Al Qadsiah. The Uruguayan forward, who was one of the league’s top summer signings, found the net just four minutes into the second half, converting Malcom’s low cross to respond to an earlier goal from Ghanaian winger Christopher Bonsu Baah.

Bonsu Baah made an immediate impact in his RSL debut, netting the opening goal in the sixth minute after seizing on a loose ball to beat Al Hilal’s Yassine Bono. The match saw a fast-paced exchange of goals, with Al Hilal aiming to reclaim dominance after last season’s runner-up finish.

However, Al Qadsiah, who finished fourth last season, countered effectively. Julian Quinones capitalized on a swift team move to restore parity in the 54th minute, showcasing Al Qadsiah’s offensive prowess.

The see-saw nature of the game continued when Bonsu Baah’s foul on Sergej Milinkovic-Savic awarded Al Hilal a penalty. Ruben Neves confidently converted in the 73rd minute, securing a hard-fought point for the champions-elect.

In other matches on Saturday, Al Khaleej surged to the top of the early league standings with a commanding 3-0 victory over Al Fayha, with summer signing Joshua King finding the net again, alongside goals from Dimitrious Kourbelis and Paolo Fernandes.

Meanwhile, Al Taawoun triumphed 3-2 against Al Okhdood, thanks to a brace from Musa Barrow, including the decisive goal in a tightly contested matchup.

Statistics from the matches indicate a competitive start to the season, with Al Hilal’s draw and Al Khaleej’s win setting the tone for an exciting campaign ahead.
