Saudi Arabia Launches First Ever Family Beach Sports Festival in Al-Uqair

Riyadh, November 14, 2025 — Saudi Arabia is set to host its inaugural family-oriented beach sports festival, Ramliyah, bringing a vibrant mix of wellness, competition, and entertainment to the historic Al-Uqair Beach.

Taking place from November 25 to 29, the five-day event is being held under the patronage of Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr Al Saud, governor of Al-Ahsa, and is supported by the Ministry of Sport, the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, and the Saudi Sports for All Federation.

A Festival for Families and Athletes

Ramliyah is designed as more than a sports tournament — it is a full family and community celebration of fitness and active living. The beach will be divided into several interactive zones, including:

  • Competitive tournaments in beach volleyball, soccer, and handball for both men and women
  • A wellness zone offering yoga and fitness sessions
  • A fan zone with beach games and interactive activities
  • A food and beverage area with diverse local and international cuisines
  • Special Sports-for-All youth sessions for participants under 18, encouraging teamwork, movement, and fun

General admission for visitors will be free, making Ramliyah accessible to families across the Kingdom. Athletes will compete for a total prize pool of US$53,000 (SAR 200,000).

Advancing Vision 2030 Goals

Ramliyah strongly aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 ambition to promote a healthier, more active society. By focusing on accessibility, family participation, and youth engagement, the festival supports national efforts to increase regular physical activity among all age groups.

According to organizers, the Active Program at Ramliyah is intended to inspire community members to adopt a more active lifestyle and to view sports as a core part of daily life.

Expanding Saudi Arabia’s Global Sports Presence

The festival comes as Saudi Arabia continues to expand its international sports partnerships. Recently, the Ministry of Sport signed new memoranda of understanding with several countries — including Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Brunei, and Somalia — aimed at increasing cooperation in youth activities, cultural exchange, and joint sports development programs.

These agreements signal the Kingdom’s commitment to strengthening its global sports network while continuing to elevate domestic community sports initiatives.
