Saudi Arabia Finalizes Readiness for Semifinal Showdown Against Jordan in Arab Cup

DOHA — In a bid for glory, Saudi Arabia completed final preparations on Sunday for their much-anticipated semifinal match against Jordan at the Arab Cup Qatar 2025. The showdown is scheduled for Monday night at Al Bayt Stadium.

The Green Falcons, under the guidance of head coach Hervé Renard, conducted their training session at the Aspire training grounds, with Saudi Football Federation President Yasser Al-Misehal present to witness the team’s readiness.

The training began with a technical meeting focused on tactics, followed by warm-up drills and exercises designed to enhance ball possession and positional organization. Attendees noted the high level of concentration and readiness displayed by the players.

As they head into the semifinal, Saudi Arabia remains determined to reach the final with strong support anticipated from their fans at Al Bayt Stadium. This match is expected to be fiercely contested, reflecting the impressive performances both teams have displayed throughout the tournament.

In their journey to the semifinals, Saudi Arabia secured a place following a narrow 2-1 victory over Palestine and finishing second in Group B with six points. They logged wins over Oman and Comoros and faced a single defeat against Morocco. Notably, the team has netted a total of seven goals while conceding four throughout the tournament, showcasing their balanced approach in both offense and defense.

The Green Falcons are aiming to lift the Arab Cup for a third time, having previously won the title in 1998 and 2002. Key players include Asian Player of the Year Salem Al-Dawsari, top scorer Mohammed Kanno with three goals, and notable talents such as Feras Al-Brikan, Ali Majrashi, Nawaf Boushal, Hassan Tambakti, goalkeeper Nawaf Al-Aqidi, and midfielder Musab Al-Juwayr.

On the other hand, Jordan stands out as one of the tournament’s surprise packages, having reached the semifinals with a remarkable string of four consecutive victories. They initiated their group stage with a 2-1 win against the UAE, followed by a 3-1 triumph over Kuwait, a 3-0 win against Egypt, and a narrow 1-0 quarterfinal victory over Iraq.

Coached by Jamal Sellami, Jordan’s success has been rooted in team discipline and tactical cohesion, exemplified by striker Ali Olwan, who leads the tournament’s scoring charts with four goals, supported by players such as Mohammad Abu Zrayq and Muhannad Abu Taha, along with goalkeeper Yazeed Abulaila.

Historically, this matchup marks the third encounter between Saudi Arabia and Jordan in the Arab Cup. Each team has previously secured one victory, creating an added layer of intrigue ahead of a semifinal that promises intensity, balance, and high stakes.
