RIYADH — As Saudi Arabia solidifies its position as a global hub for elite combat sports, a new generation of homegrown athletes is transitioning from regional prospects to international contenders. Supported by the Ministry of Sport and the Saudi Arabian Mixed Martial Arts Federation (SAMMAF), these five fighters represent the vanguard of the Kingdom’s professional combat sports ecosystem.
- Abdullah “The Reaper” Al-Qahtani (MMA) Currently competing in the PFL featherweight division, Al-Qahtani remains the most established Saudi name in global MMA. With a professional record of 11-2-0, he became the first Saudi to win in the PFL SmartCage. His striking accuracy, clocked at 68% in recent bouts, makes him a primary contender for a global title shot in the 2026 season.
- Hattan Al-Saif (MMA) A pioneer in women’s sports, Al-Saif transitioned to professional status in December 2025 following an undefeated amateur run. The 2023 Muay Thai World Gold Medalist has become a symbol of the “Quality of Life” program’s success, showcasing the professionalization of female athletics in the Kingdom.
- Ziyad “Zizo” Al-Maayouf (Boxing) The first Saudi professional boxer to win on a major U.S. card, Al-Maayouf holds an unbeaten record of 8-0-1. Competing in the super-lightweight division under the guidance of top-tier international trainers, his rise mirrors the General Entertainment Authority’s (GEA) efforts to establish Riyadh as the “Boxing Capital of the World.”
- Mostafa Rashed Nada (MMA) A middleweight veteran with a background in BJJ and boxing, Nada has utilized the PFL MENA platform to secure a 9-3 professional record. Known for his knockout power, he currently operates out of Jeddah, where his success has driven a 40% increase in local martial arts gym memberships.
- Mohammed Alakel (Jiu-Jitsu/MMA) Rising through the ranks of the Saudi National Jiu-Jitsu team, Alakel’s transition to the regional MMA circuit has been marked by technical grappling dominance. His recent gold medals at the Asian level have positioned him as a key prospect for the 2026 PFL MENA season.
According to SAMMAF, the number of registered professional fighters in the Kingdom has grown by 200% since 2023, a trend directly linked to the hosting of high-profile events like “Riyadh Season” and the PFL MENA series.
