HOUSTON — Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo has accumulated 973 official career goals in 1,321 competitive professional matches following his appearances for club and country in mid-2026. The 41-year-old athlete is attempting to become the first footballer in history to reach the 1,000-goal threshold in official competitive matches.
Ronaldo concluded the 2025–26 Saudi Pro League season with Al-Nassr by winning his first league title with the club. During the final match against Damac FC on May 21, 2026, he scored two goals in a 4-1 victory. Earlier in the month, on May 7, 2026, he recorded his 100th Saudi Pro League goal against Al-Shabab, reaching the milestone in 105 league appearances.
Following the domestic season, Ronaldo joined the Portugal national football team for the FIFA World Cup 2026™. On June 17, 2026, Ronaldo made his record-tying sixth tournament appearance in Portugal’s opening Group K match against the DR Congo national football team at Houston Stadium. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, with goals scored by Portugal’s João Neves and DR Congo’s Yoane Wissa. Ronaldo played 90 minutes and recorded two shots but was held scoreless.
